4-Day Rwanda Safari: Gorilla and Golden Monkey Trekking Adventure

Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport – Hotel Transfer

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from our team. After exchanging some currency into Rwandan Francs, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay. Your dedicated and professional safari driver-guide will already be at the airport, ready to receive you. Check in to your hotel, relax, and enjoy the available amenities. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 2: Kigali City Tour – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park (Musanze)

After breakfast, your guide will pick you up from your hotel to begin a short tour of Kigali. A highlight of this morning is a visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a moving site of remembrance and education honoring the victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi.

Following the tour, begin your drive to Musanze, the gateway to Volcanoes National Park—famous for its mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and scenic hiking trails. Along the way, enjoy the breathtaking Rwandan landscapes. Upon arrival at the lodge, check in, unwind, and enjoy the property’s amenities. Spend your evening at leisure before dinner and a peaceful night’s rest.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking & Cultural Experience

Start your day early with breakfast before heading to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters in Kinigi. After completing registration and receiving a briefing from your guides, set out on an unforgettable trek through the forest to find the endangered mountain gorillas. Once located, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat as they interact, feed, and move about.

Return to your lodge for lunch and a short rest. In the afternoon, enjoy a cultural visit to the Gorilla Guardians Village (formerly the Iby’iwacu Cultural Center), where you’ll experience Rwandan traditions, music, storytelling, and dance. Guests are encouraged to participate in the lively performances and engage with the community. Head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Trek – Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, return to the park headquarters for your golden monkey trekking experience. These playful and curious primates are a joy to observe, and you’ll spend around an hour watching them in their natural setting.

Following the trek, head back to the lodge for a quick meal, then check out. Begin your return journey to Kigali. If time allows, stop by local craft shops for some last-minute souvenir shopping. Finally, depending on your flight schedule, you’ll be transferred to Kigali International Airport for your outbound flight.
